Geelong is a term used to describe 100% virgin wool, or Geelong wool. It is non-allergenic and considered by many to be the softest lambswool. When talking about 'Super Geelong or NEW Geelong", it is guaranteed that the wool is the first shearing of the lambs, which are up to 5 months old. Unlike Merino, Geelong is carded and spun in such a way to create a loftier, bulkier yarn, while retaining a luxurious softness similar to cashmere.

Please note: The yarn that is prepared on cones for machine knitting is lightly waxed so it will run well in the machine. Once knit, it needs to be washed (a few times for a better result) before you can feel how soft it is.
